Due to the product's low density, high strength and corrosion resistance, titanium bars find extensive use in aircraft production and repairs.
Titanium bars are present in various aircraft airframes, engines and landing gears. Here at Smiths MRO, we stock a range of titanium grades which include:
6Al-4V Titanium - an alpha-beta alloy and the most common titanium grade, also known as Grade 5. 6Al-4V possesses good mechanical strength and corrosion resistance with relatively low density. The most common specification is AMS 4928, although materials certified to BS TA11, AMS-T-904 and ASTM B348 are also available in our stock range. We stock round bars from 0.25” (6.35mm) up to 10” (305mm) diameters in 6AL-4V titanium.
Grade 4 Titanium - a commercially pure titanium offering the highest strength of all CP titanium grades, making it useful for aerospace applications. It is most commonly available to the specification AMS 4921 or ASTM B348.
6242 Titanium - a TI-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo-Si (6242) titanium alloy offers good corrosion resistance and weldability. The material we stock is according to AMS 4975 and is frequently used in airframe applications and jet compressors.
We cut to specific lengths and have no minimum order quantity (MOQ).
Our range of band saws enables us to process bars up to 540mm in diameter to lengths as short as 10mm, all to tight tolerances (+/-0.3mm). By utilising us to do the cutting for you, we save you time, and you avoid wastage and high shipping costs.
Material Range
Our stock range includes the finest quality alloys selected explicitly to support the MRO sector. We recognise that an aircraft out of service is a huge cost; therefore, we stock the right products to suit your engineering requirements.
Our export team have a wealth of experience and organises the transport and paperwork to ensure you receive your materials on time.
With our continual investment in MRO-specific stock, we offer fast response times and often dispatch your order on the very same day.
