We support numerous aerospace related MRO markets.

CP Grade 4 Sheet

Commercially pure titanium

CP Grade 4 titanium sheet is the strongest commercially pure sheet grade we stock.

Grade 4 commercially pure titanium is the strongest of all unalloyed pure titanium. We offer CP grade 4 in sheet form.

The material offers many attractive performance characteristics, making it highly suitable for aerospace applications.

Product Overview

Grade 4 benefits from high tensile strength with outstanding corrosion resistance and ductility. Other product features include good formability and weldability. At elevated temperatures, the material does not suffer sensitisation (loss of material integrity). Nor does the material have issues with grain boundary embrittlement (due to the purity of the product). Grade 4 also has this series' highest allowable oxygen and iron content. The product is the strongest commercially pure titanium at the expense of a loss in overall formability, although formability is still good.

Comparisons with Stainless Steel

CP Grade 4 offers excellent corrosion resistance and similar strength compared to many annealed stainless steel products. Although comparable in this aspect, the product provides superior corrosion resistance while being considerably lighter due to the material's lower density.

Why choose commercially pure titanium?

The underlying differences between unalloyed and alloyed titanium products are relatively simple. Alloyed titaniums typically offer increased strength and malleability. Commercially pure grades usually deliver much superior corrosion resistance. The materials that customers utilise in aerospace applications will be dictated by suitability.

Cost is also a consideration since titanium is considerably more expensive than steel in all forms. However, such costs are negated due to the material's lower density which means that less product is needed to achieve the same strength.
