Smiths MRO is a sub-divsion of a larger business - Smiths Advanced Metals.
Smiths MRO focuses on raw material support for the global aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul market. Our business is supported by a broad and diverse stock range with a dedicated team that provides outstanding service levels required for our industry.
High strength 2219 aluminium plate finds use in the aerospace sector in high-temperature applications.
2219 aluminium plate offers high strength and high-fracture toughness with good mechanical properties. The alloy performs well in temperatures ranging from -452° C to 600° C, where it consistently retains high structural strength. 2219 also benefits from good machinability, and the product is readily weldable. Like all 2xxx series aluminium alloys, atmospheric corrosion resistance is poor compared to other aluminium products and is anodised or chemically oxidised to increase protection.
2219 aluminium plate is typically supplied in the T851 delivery condition for aerospace applications where the material is solution-heat-treated, stress relieved, and artificially aged. Our current plate stock range is from 0.5” to 3” thickness, and we offer other sizes with short lead times too.
We recognise that material stock support for the MRO is business critical, and our customers demand instant access. We stock engineering raw materials, including 2219 aluminium plates, available for immediate supply.
We add further value to our supply proposition with in-house processing options where we accurately cut your plates to very tight tolerances. In doing so, we offer a single supply source where you receive material ready to use rather than our customers needing to cut the plates themselves. We perform all these tasks for you in a highly efficient way.
